Food Hub

Tomoana Food Hub provides purpose built, high quality facilities for companies in the food industry.

We define the Food Hub as being “a centrally located facility with a business management structure facilitating the aggregation, processing, manufacturing, storage, and distribution and/or marketing of food products”. Thereby, we are encouraging the creation a “cluster” of companies involved in the food business onto the Food Hub site. By grouping food businesses together on the same site there are synergies, and shared resources and knowledge which will benefit each businesses bottom line.

There are many well known industry clusters in the world, just look at Silicon Valley. And it is well known that firms based in clusters are more competitive.

We are able to design and build facilities that meet all modern food grade requirements for the manufacturing or processing of food products. In addition we can accommodate companies servicing the food industry, for example storage, packaging, distribution or transport companies used for produce, food or beverage products. Even research facilities qualify to be part of our leading edge Food Hub.

Situated next door to Heinz Watties Tomoana, the site is 16Ha in size and already zoned Industrial 7 (Tomoana Food Industry Cluster Zone). There is high quality underground water with consents for extraction and the Hastings District Council trade waste system runs through the site. The site has easy access to the Port of Napier and there is a rail link possibility.
